This article describes how to submit a curbside consult and receive answers from our specialists panel. For an overview of Curbside Consult, refer to this support article. Curbside Consult is only available to the PRO and PRO+HBO plans. Advisors typically reply within 24 hours, however response time might vary.
Opening Curbside Consult
- In the top navigation bar, click on “Tools”, then on “Curbside Consult”
Asking a question
Type your question
- Click on “Post Title” to display fillable fields
- In “Post Title”, add a title for your question (required)
- In “Additional Details”, type your question (required). Add as much information as possible so that specialists can understand the context of your question and provide a helpful answer. Please do not enter any information that can be used to identify a patient (“patient identifiers” such as a patient’s face, name, contact information, medical record number, etc)
Upload images from your computer or mobile
A picture is worth a thousand words!
- Before uploading, please ensure any patient identifiers are removed from the image. See “how can I remove patient identifiers from an image”
- If using a computer, you have 2 options:
- Upload an image that was previously saved in your computer
- If you are viewing the image on your screen, you can take a picture of your screen (screenshot), edit it, save it in your computer and upload it
- If using a mobile device, you can:
- Upload an image that was previously saved in your mobile device
- Take a picture with the camera of the device, edit it, save it and upload it.
- Once the image (with no patient identifier) is saved in your computer or mobile, click on the “picture” icon in the center of one of the 3 rectangles in the form. For mobile devices, you’ll also see an option to take pictures with your camera and have them uploaded directly to the app. You can do so, however it will not allow you to edit the photo or to save it in your camera roll.
- Choose which file to upload and click “open”. You can upload up to 3 images per question. Only picture files are accepted (e.g., jpeg, tiff, png). To replace a previously uploaded image, click on the “picture” icon again, choose the file and click on “open”. The new image will replace the previously uploaded one.
Decide if your post is private or public
Would you like your post to be visible to all WoundReference members?
- If so, no need to do anything. The option “Publicly visible” is checked by default and it means that your question and answers to your question will be posted on the “Recent Posts” tab. All questions on this tab are visible and searchable by WoundReference members. Members can view your question and our specialists’ answers but cannot reply to your posts.
- If you would like your post to be visible to you only, uncheck “Publicly visible”. As a result, your question will be submitted to the panel but will not be posted on the public “Recent Posts” tab and will be posted on the private “My Posts” tab instead.
Click on “Submit” to submit your questions to the specialists panel.
Receiving answers to your questions
- Note: Advisors typically reply within 24 hours, however response time might vary.
- Upon clicking on “Submit”, your question is posted on the publicly visible “Recent Posts” tab or on the private “My Posts” tab.
- You will receive at least 2 email notifications:
- 1) When you click on "Submit", you'll receive an email confirming that WoundReference has received your question. If this is the first time using Curbside Consult and you can’t find the confirmation email in your Inbox, please look for it in your Spam or Junk mail folder, and set your email service provider to redirect WoundReference Curbside Consult emails to your Inbox instead. In Gmail for instance you can accomplish that by opening the message and clicking on “Not spam”.
- 2) When a specialist replies to your question, you’ll receive a notification email with a link to your answer. If multiple specialists reply to your answer, you’ll receive one notification for each answer. Click on the link to go to your post on Curbside Consult and read specialists’ replies to your question.
