The Dressing Change Brochure Editor in English and in Spanish allows clinicians to instantly create custom brochures with unique, personalized dressing regimen for patients and caregivers. The resulting brochures have step-by-step pictures and easy-to-understand instructions, in addition to information on general wound care and a dressing change schedule. Brochures can be printed at the point-of-care or saved as a PDF and emailed to the patient. What sections of the brochure can be customized?
The brochure has 2 sides: "Front" and "Back". When you open the tool, you will automatically land on the "Front" side.
- On the "Front" side: customize steps of your dressing change instructions by selecting pictures to compose your instructions and editing captions of the pictures.
- On the "Back" side: the brochure will automatically display your institution's logo, your name, title and contact info.
- Your name, contact info and company can be edited directly on the brochure.
- To add or edit your institution's logo, you must be the Admin of the Account. On the top navigation bar, go to "Settings", then "Account", and add your institution's logo.
How can I create a customized dressing change brochure?
Using Google Chrome, customize your brochure, you will land on the "Front" side of the brochure:
- Step 1. Select pictures and edit captions. There are 9 slots for pictures (panels) that can be populated with any picture you select from the existing dropdown menus, in any order. The first 4 panels are pre-set for steps commonly taken in all dressing changes (i.e. handwashing, donning gloves, removing old dressing, and gentle cleansing). Those pictures and respective captions can also be changed as desired.
- To change or add a picture, click on the panel's yellow drop down menu, and select a picture.
- To edit each picture's caption, click on the caption and edit it. Click on the "check" button to save the edited caption.
- Step 2. Print or save your customized dressing change instructions right away. Your edits and pictures are not saved by the system. Thus, to avoid losing your work, print your customized brochure or save it as a PDF in your computer or mobile device for later access.
- To save as a PDF on your computer: click on "PRINT". On the printer dialog, under "Destination", select "Save as a PDF". Then click on "Save" (Figures
- To print: on the brochure page, click on the gray button "PRINT". On the print dialog, click on "More settings", and set margins to 'none' or adjust scale.
How can I print my customized dressing change brochure?
Avoid printer formatting issues by following these instructions:
On Chrome (preferred):
- Click on the 'PRINT' button on the upper right corner.
- On the print dialog, go to "settings" and set margins to 'none', or adjust scale
On Internet Explorer:
- Remove Header and Footers: Set Internet Explorer to hide Header and Footers. This step only needs to be completed once.
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Press the Alt key. This will show the browser's top menu bar.
- On the top menu bar, click on "File". Then click on "Page Setup".
- Under "Header and Footers", set all 6 drop-down boxes to 'empty'
- Click on "OK".
- Customize brochure: Go back to the Dressing Change Brochure Editor and customize your dressing change instructions. Make sure you fill out at least 6 steps of the instructions.
- Print: Click on the 'PRINT' button on the upper right corner.
- Change orientation: On the print dialog, click on "set preferences" and change layout to landscape (default is portrait). This step should be completed once every time the browser is closed and reopened. If the browser remains open, there should be no need to change orientation before every brochure is printed. This step is not needed on Chrome, as orientation on Chrome is automatically set to landscape.
- Click on "OK" and print
How can I add/edit my institution's logo on the brochure?
- To add or edit your institution's logo, you must be the Admin of the Account. On the top navigation bar, go to "Settings", then "Account", and add your institution's logo.
How can I edit/add my contact info, name and company on the brochure?
When opening the tool, you will land on the "Front" side of the brochure, where you can customize your dressing change instructions. Go to the "Back" side of the brochure to edit/add your contact info, name and company:
- To go to the "Back" side of the brochure, click on the green button that says "Show Back Side" on the upper right corner or bottom of the screen.
- Edit any text that has a dashed underline, including your name, company and contact info. If you opt to edit your name, company and contact info using this method, changes will not be saved and you would need to repeat these edits every time you create a new brochure.
- To permanently edit your name and contact info, so that you don't need to edit them every time you create a brochure, update your profile.
- To edit your profile, click on the icon or picture on the upper right corner of the screen and click on "Edit Profile". Edit your name and contact info and save. Your name and contact info should automatically be reflected on the brochure.
- To permanently edit your company's name and logo, you must be the Admin of your account.
- On the top navigation menu, click on "Settings", then "Accounts". Edit the name of the company and upload a logo. Save changes.
- To permanently edit your name and contact info, so that you don't need to edit them every time you create a brochure, update your profile.
